Vivian Wu & Sam Luo said "I do" at South Maluaka Beach on December 12th, 2011. In attendance were 5 close family & friends of the couples! They were lucky enough to get a cloudy, but un-rainy evening. Even though the clouds threatened otherwise, we managed to have an amazing wedding event & beautiful sunset evening! Vivian had Shelly from Mariah's Mane, help her get bride ready, doing her make up & hair professional style! Next the couple came down from the Makena Beach & Golf Resort, to attend the special sunset vow exchange. Rev. Kelii performed the special vows, Barry Frankel Photography captured all the special moments on film, & Afterglow Weddings Maui followed close behind, getting all the dialogue on video! Many mahalos to Cora from Kihei W ailea Flowers for the beautiful florals, Wolf for the special wedding day tunes & to Maui Wedding Cakes for the amazing vanilla & raspberry cake, it was yummy!

Makena Surf ~ November 25th, 2011

I had the pleasure of executing Meagon Marshall & Michael Levitz's wedding ceremony on November 25th, 2011 at Makena Surf beach. The windy afternoon was just perfect, as the beach was not too crowded, allowing us to find a semi-wind blocked spot. Off we went, into the special occassion for the happy Kansas City couple! Island Sunset Weddi ngs was honored to have Caprice Nicole Photography capture all the one of a kind moments, Kalani singing amazing wedding day tunes, & Pastor Vance executing the special vows! We say a special aloha & mahalo to Pastor Vance for all his wedding day memories....this was the last wedding he will execute for ISW here on Maui! He is now off to Alaska, to begin his new journey!

9.10.11 McMeans & Allen at Makena Surf Beach, Wailea

I just wanted to send a belated "Congratulations" to Mandy McMeans & Bobby Allen! They said "I do" on September 10th, 2011 at Makena Surf Beach, Wailea. The afternoon was slightly wet, with light showers looming in the sky. Mandy & Bobby didn't mind, they were just so happy to be getting married, grinning ear to ear! I want to say a special thank you to Rev. Kelii Brown. After my minister who had been in place for 10 months, canceled on me 2 days prior to the event, I was able to connect with Kelii. He had never met me, and he still mananged to fit my couple into his busy day.....I think he had almost 10 events that day!!! He was perfect for the couple, and I was just so grateful to him for all his last minute help! I also want to say thank you to Heather from On Location Styling for making Mandy so "bride beautiful" for her special day, and to Barry Frankel Photography for the amazing wedding day images! October is here, so hard to believe! Just last week, on September 25th, 2011 Shai Randol emailed Island Sunset Weddings for a special beach wedding event. Her & Clark wanted to get married the next weekend on October 2nd, 2011, as they were to arrive in just 3 days! I quickly call Shai & dialogue with her about details! They both wanted a simple beach wedding, I simply reply, "no problem"! I take down Shai & Clark's wedding wishes, & set off on connecting with my top Maui vendors! Thank you to Pastor Vance for executing the special vows & to Trisha from Beauty by Trisha for Shai's amazing hair & make up, she looked flawless! On August 31st, 2011 Ai & Clint Burch say "I do" at Poolenalena Beach, Wailea in front of 25 close family & friends! The tide was high this day, providing complications for me and my team to set up the flower circle close to shore! However, Susan from Birds in Paradise, and I found a nice and dry spot on the upper part of Poolenalena, allowing us to provide the couple with the most ideal beach setting that afternoon!

Following the exchange of vows executed by Pastor Vance, the couple & guests traveled across the street to Gannon's Restaurant for a one of kind wedding reception event! The guests were busy with cocktail hour & a private hula show during sunset, Ai & Clint finishing up with alone romantic shots on the beach with Joe D' Alessandro Photography! Kalani provided acoustic music for the beach ceremony, then traveled up to Gannon's to start the private Hula Show and more acoustic music for the evening!! Following dinner, the couple watched a private slideshow, created by the couple, to share with family & friends, it was so fun! The couple had some amazing words for me and my ISW team:

"The wedding was amazing and everyone told me that they felt the same way. To be honest with you, Clint had never been to Hawaii and was not sure about a Hawaiian wedding. But right after we landed on Maui on August 30th, he loved it there and is already talking about visiting next year! I am so happy that he loved it there and now we have our special place! Please stay in Maui forever, so we can go back there to celebrate every decade in Maui with you! Thanks again for everything!

Poolenalena Wailea ~ Moore & Hargrave say "I do"

On August 2nd, 2011 Victoria Moore & Bradley Hargrave said "I do" at Poolenalena Beach, Wailea. The bride contacted me just a few short weeks ago, expressing to me that her and Brad wanted to elope, and that they wanted to get married in just two weeks time! Island Sunset Weddings said " no problem" and after putting the date in place, I quickly set the special event into motion, booking my top notch professional Maui vendors! Victoria & Brad stayed at the Wailea Marriott and traveled to the beach with help from Alii Limousine! Once they arrived, Brad was placed on the beach with Pastor Vance, and the petal path was then put into place! Wilmont from Kahaialii Productions provided us with amazing one of a kind, acoustic Ukulele! As Victoria was about to make her entrance to the beach, and her new husband to be, she looked at me, and just shook her head, and said " I feel like I'm in a fairytale". It was just perfect, for me, and for her! She was as happy as can be, and that is my ultimate goal!! Immediately following the vows, the couple did a quick cake cutting & toast on the beach, so special & unique! Caprice Nicole Photography did a one of kind job, shooting all the special moments, and making them look like they belong on a Maui postcard, breathtaking! Alii limousine returned the couple to the hotel, off to dine at Mala for their sunset wedding reception dinner!

Makena Cove Wash Out ~ August 1st, 2011

On August 1st, 2011 Beverly Abbott & Felix Fajardo said "I do" at Keawakapu Beach, Wailea, in front of the Five Palms Restaurant. Originally, the couple had met me down at Makena Cove in Wailea, with the hopes of executing their vows at sunset at this one of kind wedding location! The high tide had other plans for us this evening, as the Cove was all washed away, what to do? I quickly discuss the options with Barry Frankel Photography, and we decide with the bride & groom to move to our secondary beach permitted location, Keawakapu in Kihei. This back up plan was quickly put into place, as we all jumped in our cars, and made to the new ceremony location! We had plenty of time to execute the vows with Rev. Kimo Kirkman. Barry Frankel Photography did an amazing job capturing all the special moments on film & Cora from Kihei Wailea Flowers did a beautiful job creating a one of a kind, blue & white floral bouquet, thank you! One last thank you to Maui Wedding Cakes for delivering a one of kind cake creation!

On June 16th, 2011 David Tucker & Michelle Huskins made the drive down from Kaanapali to enjoy a small intimate ceremony with them & 2 guests at Makena Cove, Wailea, the all time favorite wedding site location here on Maui. We were so lucky to be the only event in the cove that day, a rare treat! David arrived on his Harley Davidson, so the two could leave at sunset on his bike, so cool! Michelle was a little concerned about the wind, and how it would affect her hair, but sure enough, right as we started the ceremony, the evening turned calm, and made the exchange of vows one of a kind! Makena Cove Maui Beach Wedding ~ June 8th, 2011

I had the best time last week coordinating Melissa Paule & Bj San Juan's small wedding event! The bride had contacted Island Sunset Weddings at the beginning of May. Melissa explained to me that the couple would be traveling to Maui during the first week of June. However, they wanted to be on island first, before deciding to plan a sunset beach ceremony! On the afternoon of June 7th, 2011 Melissa contacted me, expressing that Bj and her were so amazed by Maui's beauty, that they definelty wanted to put a small wedding in place for the following day, June 8th, 2011! Island Sunset Weddings said "no problem", connecting with Rev. Richardo Hanakoo to execute the special vows! Gannon's Maui Wedding ~ Rempfer & Francis say "I do"

I had the pleasure of executing Matt Francis & Heather Rempfer's wedding event on May 15th, 2011! Gannon's Restaurant in Wailea was the host of the special event. The wedding ceremony was featured on the Lower Wedding Knoll and the wedding reception was on the Lower Lawn.

The best part about the event was 30 of their closest family & friends attended the special occassion all the way from Lodi, CA! In fact, the bride & I use to swim on the same swim team, Lodi City Swim Club back in the 90's! What a small world!

The bride looked absolutely amazing, and Matt was completely surprised by the Hula dance she had been learning & executed just prior to the vows! It was so beautiful! Immediately following the ceremony, the couple went down to Poolenlena Beach with Joe D' Alessandro Photography to capture one of a kind sunset images!!

Unfortunately, Heather came back to Gannon's not feeling too well. Her guests were being occupied by Kalani and his Duo of Hula Dancers, providing the group with a unique wedding reception entertainment hour! As the night went on, Heather continued to feel ill, not even being able to attend her own wedding reception. Her groom was amazing, taking care of her throughout the event.

After an hour of not getting any better, Matt & family decided to take Heather back to the hotel, where she then had to be transported to the Maui emergency room for more attention & care. Heather did get better in time, however, the newly wed couple did not get to attend the wedding event they had planned for over a year! They handled the situation with grace & humor, and managed to pick up the un-cut wedding cake from Gannon's the next morning to have a mini cake party at the Mana Kai, Kihei.

After talking to the couple the next day, they believe that Heather most likely came down with food poisoning from left over food she ate for lunch that day! Advice to future brides, stay away from day old food, as you never know how it will affect you!

Matt & Heather headed back to Lodi, ready to plan another wedding reception party to enjoy with all their family & friends!

It was great to see you Heather after all these years! Best of Luck to you and Matt!

Poolenalena Wash Out ~ April 20th, 2011

Aloha Everyone,

What a crazy wedding day Coleen Miller & Ron Burley had last week on April 20th, 2011. Originally scheduled to say "I do" at Paipu Beach, Wailea, the tide had other plans in store for the shoreline that day....to say the least, the beach was all but gone!!

Luckily, the Island Sunset Weddings crew had arrived early that day to scope out the afternoon activity! Sure enough, we had to switch to Plan B, and quickly move over to Poolenalena Beach before any beach front was taken by another wedding! That day, there just happened to be 6 other events occurring at the same time, in addition to the high surf! Coleen & Ron & there 3 kids handled it all with ease, and going with the suggestions & recommendations made by myself & Barry Frankel Photography! Barry managed to make the wedding day images look like the event was the only one on the beach! Thank you to Barry & his team for making it all work out amazing!

Maui Wedding Association March Meeting ~ 2011

I had been wanting to try this new Wailea hotspot, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to mingle with some local Maui members, and to try some amazing food & dessert! Fabulous February ~ Smith & Dines at The Five Palms Maui

On February 18th, 2011 Island Sunset Weddings had the pleasure of executing Kate Smith & Scott Dines wedding event at the Five Palms Restaurant in Kihei. The venue was set up for 75 of there closest family & friends. Kate & Scott chose to execute there vows under a bamboo chupah set up on the private lawn of the Five Palms Restaurant. However, the Maui weather had other plans for us this day, with dark clouds & bursts of rain making us anxious all afternoon. What to do, with the ceremony all set up outside and in place? Luckily, the couple had arranged to have a buy out of the entire restaurant for there wedding reception dinner & party! Even though we had all the tables arranged & decorated, we all pulled together, moved the necessary items, and executed the vows inside the restaurant, while rain poured down during this 15 minute exchange!! The bride & groom handled this change of plans with a smile & simply continued to move forward with what life had in plan, a little rain, and a lot of memories! Just following the vows, the afternoon sky opened up and allowed us to venture outside for the remainder of the sunset family & friends photography shots taken by Weddings by Kinga. Her images were just amazing, and the lucky couple could not look happier! The guests enjoyed appetizers & cocktails arranged by the couple with the Five Palms and then transitioned again to the private wedding reception for good food & fun, Maui style! The group finished the night with good times provided by DJ Dan, a local DJ favorite! I also want to say a special thank you to Maui Wedding Cakes for the amazing three tier creation, it was beautiful! Also, thank you to Kihei Wailea Flowers by Cora for re-creating the most beautiful bouquet for Kate! She truely felt like you had heard her requests and make her vision come true!! Valentine's Day Fun with Hagen & Goralsky!

I had so much fun this past Valentine's Day executing Victoria Hagen & Elizabeth Goralsky's wedding at Hale Makoa Kai Estate in Lahaina.

This beautiful estate location was perfect for a small wedding ceremony event and private dinner reception! Rev. Hanakoo executed the beautiful vows between the girls, and at the end of the exchange they did a butterfly release, so beautiful!

Immediately following the sunset images shot by Joe D' Alessandro Photography, the group dined on specialty appetizers & dinner buffet created by Aloha Events Catering. The amazing bright tropical florals were put together by Cora at Kihei Wailea Flowers by Cora in Kihei!

February Wedding Madness ~ So much Fun!!

What a beautiful wedding event I had the pleasure of executing on February 5th, 2011. Held at the Azure Sea Estate in Kihei, Monique Richter & Sean Leo said "I do" in front of family & friends who traveled from Australia & Canada to take part in the special day!

The exchange of vows was executed by Rev. Kimo Kirkman and the amazing photography shots were captured by Joe D' Alessandro Photography.Immediately following the sunset images, the couple enjoyed there private sunset ceremony dinner catered by Aloha Events Catering!Maui Wedding Cakes did an amazing job with the creation of the first cupcake tower I have been asked to execute......it was so cute!

On January 29th, 2011 I had the pleasure of executing Rebecca Myers & Joe Repetto's simply special wedding day event at Keawakapu Beach in Kihei. The couple were so easy to deal with, I actually planned all the details with Aymara, Rebecca's mom! Once on the beach on Saturday, the bride & groom were joined by 30 of their closest family & friends!

The bride looked amazing in her pure white princess dress, every girls wedding day dream come true! Pastor Vance made the event extra special as always, executing the vows, and starting the event off right with the blowing of the conch shell.

It was such a pleasure to execute Jill Nutini & Zach Flath's wedding event on January 26th, 2011. Jill & Zach had traveled from Canada & connected with Island Sunset Weddings in January 2010 to help plan this very special day. The couple was in luck, as Gannon's Restaurant had just completed renevations to this one of kind oceanview location! In addition to the amazing location upgrades, the entire food selection items got a facelift...Bev Gannon adding her signature touches to her fabulous new food!!

The couple wanted an intimate beach wedding to start their sunset celebration. For the small group out from Canada, we chose Paipu Beach for Rev. Kimo to execute their special vows. The event was captured by Joe D' Alessandro Photography and Afterglow Weddings Maui Videography. Wilmont Kahaialii performed the Hawaiian Chant and sang several special songs picked out by the couple. Wilmont does the most amazing Hawaiian Acoustic Guitar on the beach, a one of a kind element that can only be offered in Hawaii!!

What an amazing sunset evening we had last week on January 20th, 2011. Shauna Wolbeck & Joey Hebert made the journey to Maui from Alberta, Canada to exchange vows at Makena Cove Wailea. This intimate ceremony was executed by Pastor Vance Rosete and the beautiful images were shot by Caprice Nicole Photography! Shauna's beautiful orange & red tropical bouquet was created by Cora at Kihei Wailea Flowers by Cora.

Holiday Happiness~Makena Cove Wailea!

I was so happy to execute Don Hayes & Jody Knight's wedding ceremony event on December 15th, 2010. Originally, the couple had their wedding day planned for September, however, due to a health concern, Jody & Don had to postpone the dream Maui wedding we had already put in place. In November, to my surprise, Jody contacted Island Sunset Weddings again to put wedding plans back in motion! She picked her favorite beach, Makena Cove Wailea, and we re-scheduled the special day for December!

Believe in the Benefits ~ Maui Wedding Coordinators

On November 22nd, 2010, Bethany Greer & Ryan Costello said "I do" at Keawakapu Beach, Wailea at sunset time. On this day, Wailea Maui had some unusual weather roll into town for the afternoon. Dark & rainy skys loomed over south Maui on the hottiest & driest side of the island, something that only happens a couple of times a year, very rare. As I approach Poolenalena Beach, our originally scheduled beach location, I quickly call Barry Frankel Photography, our scheduled photographer vendor for the afternoon. He is already at Pooolenalena, and his forecast is rain....what to do? We quickly decide together to move the small special event to a beach location farther North into Kihei, Keawakapu Beach, in front of the Mana Kai Condos and the Five Palms Restaurant.

I immediately call the couple, who happen to be staying at the Wailea Marriott. I explain to them that we have made the decision to move the ceremony location to a beach farther north, where hopefully no rain looms!

I realize that the couple does not have directions to this new beach location, and I do not want them to getting lost in the rain, so I quickly head to the Marriott so the couple can then follow me to Keawakapu Beach, where Barry Frankel Photography & Pastor Vance were now waiting for us to execute the event! With plenty of time to spare, Bethany & Ryan exchange vows at this new south coast beach location, with no rain to ruin the event! When a quick call needs to be made, it really helps to have a local coordinator to help you make decisions, big or small, to make your Maui wedding the best it can possibly be!

Mama's Fishhouse Xmas Photo Shoot ~ 2010

I am so lucky to be able to work with such amazing vendors here on Maui. The best part is when they are not only your co-workers, but your friend! This past week my good friend Caprice, from Caprice Nicole Photography, met my husband Jon and I at Kuau Cove, Maui, for a one of kind Christmas card photo shoot!

The November morning was calm and beautiful for the North Shore of Maui.....a blessing considering the unpredictable North Shore showers that can come and go so quickly! As always, Roo, Rocco and Bones proved to be a challenge for the shoot, however, we managed to make the most of the morning.....even though a near by dog had Roo's attention the majority of the time!!!

The silly shots always turn out best to me, as I always like the photo jounalistic style the best. The images are able to capture so much more personality, especially when working with animals on film, completely unpredictable & fun!

As many of you know, October 10th, 2010, was the busiest wedding day here on Maui by far! Bride & Grooms were calling the islands checking for this date as far back as 2008! For Christine Gonatice & Wilfred Vidal, October 10th was the perfect choice for their local Maui wedding. This just happened to be the day they met a couple years ago!

Keith McGlynn and Carol Caulfield came all the way from Ireland to exchange vows on the beautiful south coast shores of Maui. Poolenalena was the beach of choice, and it was just perfect for the two to say "I do!"

Simply Sweet......Even with a chance of Rain!!

It is very rare for the south shore of Maui to experience any rain showers. However, this week, on September 2nd, 2010, the day Debbie DeArmond & William Sizemore were to say "I do" rain clouds loomed our way! What to do? The couple is making the drive from Lahaina, and the last thing I want is for them to have a wet wedding day!

I jump into action, call Gannon's Restaurant to see if rain is looming at Poolenalena Beach, our scheduled event location! It was in fact raining in Wailea! Oh no! After dialoguing with the photographer, Caprice Nicole Photography, she quickly suggests, Keawakapu Beach, Kihei. I quickly call the Five Palms Restaurant, and as of yet, no rain, yeah!!

The couple divert to the Five Palms and we execute their special day with no rain getting us wet. However, on the horizon you can see the weather flying by in the background! August Ends.....Fall Begins!!

Aloha everyone,

I had the pleasure of executing Guy Dean & Tiffany Weston's sunset ceremony event at beautiful Makena Cove Wailea, on August 30th, 2010!

The couple were joined by tiffany's mother & the couples adorable 1 year old daughter, Liv. Pastor Vance performed the vows, giving the event an extra special touch!

During the ceremony, we even had a small blunder.....Guy accidentally dropped Tiffany's wedding band in the beatiful white sand of the cove. Immediately, we all start looking for the special ring......no where to be seen! After 10 minutes Guy saved the day and managed to find the ring deep in the sand close to his feet!

Back into wedding mode, we managed to have the couple say "I do". It was a day to remember! Barry Frankel Photography captured all these special moments on film!

Hula Girl Sailing & Snorkeling Fun~

This Maui activity is a must while here on Maui.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of taking the day off with time to board the Hula Girl for a early morning sail & snorkel! You will meet at Kaanapali Beach, in front of Leilani's, and board the big red sail boat famously known as "Hula Girl"!

My husband and I had the best time aboard the sail boat. When we first left Kaanapali, I was a little nervous, as we happen to hit some light showers on sea, so I recommend bringing a sweatshirt aboard!

However, once over to Honolua Bay, the weather conditions and water was just amazingly clear & blue. I swam with so many fish, and I was even lucky enough to swim next to a huge turtle, I even managed to capture him on film, so cool!

The best part about the Hula Girl, it is the only Maui sailboat with a full service kitchen! Aboard
the boat we had toasted bagels & cream cheese & hot chocolate for breakfast! For lunch I had a chicken pesto sandwich and my husband had the Fish Special, cooked on the spot with jasmine rice & veggies. This dining experience makes for a one of kind sailing, snorkeling and eating experience while at sea! The best part of all, we got to sail back from Honolua Bay to Kaanapali Beach.

I highly suggest you take Dramamin if you get queasy, it can be a rough ride at times!

What a beautiful evening last week on July 8th, 2010! Kimberley Yoshihara & Bob Tassone said " I do" at Poolenalena Beach, Wailea in front of family & friends! They kept the beach event short & sweet, with simple, elegant elements, such as a petal path helping add beautiful color to the amazing wedding day images shot by Caprice Nicole Photography!

Pastor Vance performed the spiritual beach ceremony, and it was just amazing! He offers such a beautiful, personal touch to the event!

Immediately following the sunset ceremony, the group traveled up to Gannon's A Pacific View Restaurant for a outdoor private wedding reception event!

I had the pleasure of executing Stephen Goff & Marilyn Whittington's wedding on June 12th, 2010 at Poolenalena Beach Wailea. As all couples do, Stephen & Marilyn pre-picked Makena Cove Wailea for their special event this past weekend. Well, unfortunately, when we all arrived, we had come to see that the ocean tide had other plans for Makena Cove that day. The entire beach was washed out due to the fluctuating high tide.

With limited time to make a decision, Barry Frankel Photography suggests to use Poolenalena Beach, a long stretch of white sand, giving us the flexibility for intimacy & privacy to execute their event! Thank goodness, our secondary beach permited location was poolenalena. We all jump in our cars and head back to poolenalena to get them Maui'd!

As in life, the couple accepted this new change, and Island Sunset Weddings managed to have Marilyn & Stephen say "I do" with plenty of time for sunset photos! As in life, sometimes we have to go with the flow, just like the ocean!!

What a special event I executed the other night down at Makena Cove Wailea. On May 5, 2010 Dawn Charles & Keith Crigger said "I do" in front of their close friend Isabel!

Dawn opened the ceremony by serenading her groom to the song "The Longest Time" by Billy Joel. Joshua Kahula played guitar while she created this intimate moment to start off the ceremony. The evening was perfect and all caught on film of course.

Five Palms Perfection!!!

What an amazing event the Five Palms Restaurant helped me execute on February 4, 2010 for Jeanna Dalen & Joe Hatch!! The restaurant is able to offer the bride & groom the use of there exclusive oceanfront lawn when you coordinate to have your dinner reception at the restaurant! What a great offer & opportunity!

As you can see from the images provided by Joe D' Alessandro Photography, the location is ideal & magical! That night the Keawakapu sunset was golden & bright, despite the crazy trade winds we experienced during the ceremony, funny, you can't even tell from the pics!

I have the most spectacular wedding event location for you! Are you looking for a one of a kind, unique destination wedding experience? If so, this is the wedding site location for you.

This private estate in Maalaea was originally built in the late 1950’s and re-built in 2001. The current owners re-built the home based on the theme of “Hawaiiana” and open air. The exterior is board and batten with a cedar shingle roof. The main entertainment room has a concrete floor designed with banana leaves in shades of green and beige. There are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

Last month, Jon and I were able to escape Maui and travel to Baltimore, Maryland to witness our cousin Helene Apostolides say "I do" to Randy Christman. They exchanged nuptuals in front of 225 of their closest family and friends. Immediately following the ceremony, we all gathered at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott for an evening of dinner and dancing! It was so much fun. The couple had family attend from near and far, guests arriving from Rome, Lebannon and even Maui, he, he!! It was truely a memorable evening, one I will never forget!

The entire week was a blast, from the wedding, to our two day trip to New York....thanks so much guys for including us on your special day.

Beautiful Morning at D.T. Flemings!!

It was such a beautiful morning yesterday, September 17, 2008 at D.T. Flemings Beach Park.

Sandy Budnick & Jason Cone said "I do" amongst family and friends in the early morning hours. A benefit to getting married early in the morning is that you will mostly likely have the entire beach for your event! In this case, they did! Privacy and intimacy allowed the two to exchange vows and make their dreams come true! The group arrived just in time, arriving from Houston this past week on the last flight out before IKE arrived, Wheew! Now Sandy & Jason can go back to Texas a Maui'd couple!

Nakamura & Lee say " I do "

I just wanted to say what an amazing day it was yesterday, despite the VOG and looming clouds, all were in good spirits to witness Lynn Nakamura & Jared Lee say "I Do" at the Seawatch Restaurant in Wailea, Maui. The couple shared their special day with 46 of their closest family and friends who came from all areas of Northern California! Rev. Kimo made the couple official, and Carla Jalbert Photography took amazing shots of the entire party!

To kick off the night, the group enjoyed appetizers & dinner on the Lower Lawn of the Seawatch Restaurant, and partied under the stars with entertainment and dancing with DJ Dan til evenings end!

Apostolides Announcements!!!!

Aloha Everyone,

I just wanted to share with everyone a couple of new engagement announcements! First we have Chris Apostolides (my husband's twin brother) and Thanh Nguyen. They have been engaged for a few months now, and we are just waiting to hear about when the special event will take place. They are moving to Maui on October 1st, so hopefully we will get to hear first hand how and where they plan to wed!

More great news.....John Apostolides and Caroline are the newest couple to get engaged. We hear that they are thinking about tying the knot in November 2009 in Puerto Vallarta Mexico!!!! I can't wait, I have never been to Puerto Vallarta.....sounds like a blast!

Bridal Shower Fun!!!

It is another fabulous day on Maui today! I just wanted to share with all of you a bridal shower announcement! My husband's cousin, Helene Apostolides, had her bridal shower party this past weekend in Baltimore, Maryland. Of course, it was much too far for me to travel to, even though I know I missed a wonderful event. It was held by Carmen Apostolides at her home in Baltimore. Helene Apostolides will be marrying Randy Christman on September 27, 2008! Jon and I are so excited to be able to go back east for this special event! We can't wait to see you all, until then, much aloha!!!

Every day is a new day, and with that, you just don't know who you will meet or what you will learn! Well this past Monday I had the pleasure of meeting Heather McGee, the founder of Sock Grams! Heather was enjoying her last night on Maui at the Maui Sunset Park with her family, returning to Wisconsin the next day, her Maui vacation almost over! I was at the park trying to tire out my two pups.....so much energy! Anyways, Heather started talking with us fellow dog owners, and by the end of our time together she had introduced us to Sock Grams! What a cute way to send your family or friends a neat little, I'm thinking of you treat, in such a unique way! They even have a Wedding Girl sock, a perfect momento for any bride!

I just wanted to share another fabulous Maui wedding with all of you this week! Even with the VOG that we had this past weekend, Billy Bean and Stacy Meyer managed to be all smiles as they said "I do" on May 15, 2008!

Linda from Tropical Photgraphy provided the photography shoot, and as always, we all had a blast. After the nervous couple finally said "I do" on Makena Surf Beach, they were all laughs and smiles ready to enjoy another beautiful Maui sunset!

Here is one of my favorite pics with me, Billy, Stacy, and Rev. Richardo.....I just had to have a group shot for the Blog!

I just received word back from Stacy since her and Billy have returned home, this is what she has to share with all of you about Island Sunset Weddings!

Surprise~A Maui Vow Renewal Story!!!!!

Some days I feel like I am the luckiest person in Maui. This past friday I executed a vow renewal ceremony for a couple who have been married 18 years! The best part of it all....the groom planned the ceremony with me as a surprise for his wife. He also had help from the bride's Maid of Honor & best friend who happened to be present at there first wedding ceremony 18 years ago!On the morning of the event Dave decided to let Carolyn in on our little secret that we had been planning for the past several months. He surprised her that morning by sharing with her that they would be saying "I do" once again while here on Maui! That afternoon, I met with Dave and Carolyn Weaver, there family and friends at Keaweakapu Beach in Wailea, for a romantic sunset ceremony. The surprise was one of a kind, and it was another fabulous day on Maui!

The Specialty Cocktail Wedding Reception!

Another way to make your event one of a kind is to create a signature drink for your guests! Whether you make your own wedding creation, or borrow one from another, let this fun, unique idea be a part of your special day! Here are some tips to get you started on your very own today!

There are several things to consider when brainstorming a specialty cocktail for your big day. Here is a checklist to use, which I hope will ease your minds - just one more thing you don’t have to think about on that special day.

You’ll also see some photos down below, which hopefully will give you some fun ideas.

1. The theme of your day – Whether it’s ‘Hamptons beach party’ or ‘70’s retro-disco’, align your specialty libation with what your day will hold forth.

2. Color – If this is a large part of your theme, consider it for your cocktails: Purple, pink, yellow, green, silver – all colors can be recreated in the liquid form.

3. What liquor do I use? – Ask yourselves what your favorite spirits are, and decide from there. The possibilities are endless. A trend nowadays is back towards classic cocktails, so if you’re lovers of Gin, Rum, and Rye or Bourbon, think about using those as your base spirits.

4. Garnish – Maybe it’s your favorite fruit or flower (make sure it’s edible!), or just simply maraschino cherries (because on your first date you impressed your partner by tying a knot with the stem using only your tongue), make it meaningful and always keep in mind what flavor your garnish will add to your cocktail. A garnish serves dual purposes – to look pretty and to add flavor to a drink. Remember – we taste with our eyes first.

5. Save $$$ - By offering one or two specialty cocktails, you can limit your guests’ drinking habits. Even better, offer only your specialty cocktails during cocktail hour, and beer and wine during dinner.

6. Ease of preparation – If you’re fortunate enough to have caterers who are experienced in fine dining, you may not have an issue with this. But for the most part, catering bartenders don’t have much experience with specialty cocktails, let alone custom-made specialty cocktails. Think about using simple, ready-made and easily accessible ingredients. Even submitting a recipe for a batched or pitcher version of your drink would ease the bartender’s nerves, and ensure a perfect, consistent cocktail every time.

7. What about Uncle Frank who doesn’t drink, or Cousin Susie who just graduated 5th grade? Always have non-alcoholic versions of your alcoholic cocktails readily available for your guests. It usually just entails eliminating the alcoholic portion of the drink, and adding in a bit more of the mixers.

8. If you’re too stressed and can’t even think about adding this to your long list of to-do’s - Hire a professional! Nowadays, specialty wedding cocktails are almost the norm, and there is a slew of catering companies that offer this service. Independent and special event ‘mixologists’ are also another good option (yours truly, wink, wink). The service is personal and special, and you can be assured that nobody else in the world will have the same cocktail that’s being served at your wedding (unless, of course, you choose to serve a classic). Here are some cocktails that I’ve created for weddings that may spark an idea or two:

The Fiance Cocktail

2 oz. Hendrick’s Gin
1/2 oz. Elderflower Syrup
Splash of Moet et Chandon Champagne
Directions: Stir the above ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled champagne flute.
Garnish: rose petal

Blushing Bride

1 oz. 10 Cane Rum
1 oz. Pama Pomegranate Liqueur
1/2 oz. Fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 oz. Mint-infused simple syrup
